Moxibustion
Moxibustion refers to the use of the herb artemisia vulgaris, popularly known as mugwort. Mugwort is dried, aged, and made into a wool-like texture that we refer to as moxa. The application of moxa varies and, at Klimick Acupuncture, it is mainly formed into small cones that are placed on top of acu-points. The moxa is then lit with an incense stick, which warms the acu-points making the Qi more available. After the moxa cones are used, the acupuncture needle is inserted.
